5. What might cause e-mail to not get delivered to my private account? There could be many reasons but a common one is accounts get compromised when someone gives passwords via email and as a result all email from Ivy Tech to certain email domains, i.e. Hotmail, Gmail, etc. is occasionally blocked which could be for days because of SPAM originating from College addresses.

6. I have set up auto forward for my Ivy Tech email to a private account, but I am not getting Ivy Tech emails in my private account or in Campus Connect. Can Helpdesk help? What should I do? Since you have set up auto forward for your Ivy Tech email to a private account, once the email leaves Ivy Techs email system, there is very little Helpdesk can do. One way to test where the problem is may be to stop auto forwarding email to your private account and see if the emails go to your Campus Connect email. If it does, then the problem is with the failed delivery to private accounts which could be for various reasons as stated earlier in previous Frequently Asked Questions.

7. I have forwarded my Ivy Tech email to a private account and received an email from one of my faculty or an Ivy Tech staff member. I replied, but the faculty member/staff person said I needed to reply from my Ivy Tech account. Why is that? Faculty members care about your privacy and so must take steps to verify your identity before discussing class related matters with you. Therefore, they may ask you to reply from your Ivy Tech account or make a request via your Ivy Tech account so that they can take extra steps to verify your identity before discussing a class related matter with you.
