Email Security

SPAM can be forwarded to spam@lists.ivytech.edu.

Report any phishing attempts, hacking, or compromised accounts to information security. You can call 1-866-847-2525 to anonymously report abusive activity or forward the message to abuse@lists.ivytech.edu. Be sure to include full message headers in your email.

How to view message headers:

Outlook 2010

You need to open the message and click on the File Tab and then click the Properties box.

In the Internet Headers box highlight all of the text and then CTRL-C or right-click and select copy to copy the headers.

Outlook 2003 and 2007

Right click the message and select Options.

In the Internet Headers box highlight all of the text and then CTRL-C or right-click and select copy to copy the headers.

Email+ WebMail

Double-Click to open the message in a new window. Click on "View Message Source".

A new window will open containing all the header information. Highlight all of the text and then CTRL-C or right-click and select copy to copy the headers.

Gmail

1. Log in to Gmail.

2. Open the message you'd like to view headers for.

3. Click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top-right of the message pane.

4. Select Show original. The full headers will appear in a new window.

Hotmail

1. Log in to your Hotmail account.

2. Select Inbox from the left-side menu.

3. Right-click the message you'd like to view headers for and select View message source. The full headers will appear in a new window.

Yahoo! Mail

1. Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account.

2. Select the message you'd like to view headers for.

3. Click the Actions dropdown menu and select View Full Header. The full headers will appear in a new window.

AOL Mail

1. Log in to your AOL account.

2. Open the message you'd like to view headers for.

3. In the 'Action' menu, select View Message Source. The full headers will appear in a new window.
