  • What are the library's hours?

  •  What is Library's telephone number?

  • Where is the library?
    The library is located on the west (Anthony entrance) end of the Coliseum Campus, room 1770.
  • Does the Library have the textbooks for my classes?
    The library does not purchase current textbooks. Some instructors, however, have placed textbooks on reserve for in-Library use only. Please check at the circulation desk to see if we have the one for your class.
  • Can I use my floppy disk on library computers?
    Yes. Though library computers are no longer equipped with floppy drives, you can check our portable USB Floppy drive in order to use your floppy disk.
  • Can I eat or drink in the library?
    Beverages in covered containers are allowed in the library. Snacks are permitted outside of the computing area.
  • Can I have my children around when I study in the library?
    Children are WELCOME in the Family Reading Center but are not permitted to accompany adults in the main computing/study area of the library. Caregivers who need to use a computer may work at one of the three conveniently placed computers in the FRC but must closely supervise children under 16 years of age. The library is not able to provide computers for children. Thank you for your cooperation and consideration of other students!

BORROWING MATERIALS

  • How do I borrow a book from the Library?
    Use your student ID card to check out items. Student ID cards can be obtained at the security desk. If you are unable to check out items due to fines owed, etc., materials can be held for you at the circulation desk for up to 3 days. Do not loan your library card or books to anyone else. You are responsible for damaged or lost books checked out to your card.
  • How many items may I borrow at one time? How long can I keep the items that I borrow?
    You can check out up to 20 items. Books, puppets, audio materials, magazines, and journals can be checked out for two weeks. Videos may be checked out for use within the library in one of the three video viewing rooms available. Current issues of magazines and journals cannot be checked out.
  •  What if I lose or damage an item?
    Failure to pay fees for lost or damaged items will result in suspension of your borrowing privileges. You will also be unable to register for classes, drop or add classes, graduate, or get a copy of your transcript.
  • If you don't have the book I need, can you get it for me?
    Students and employees can request items owned by another library with a request form available online and in the library. The borrower is responsible for returning materials to the Ivy Tech library. Reference books, videos and journals are rarely able to be borrowed.
    You may be able to use other libraries' materials through the 'Reciprocal Borrowing' program. Reciprocal borrowing cards are available to faculty and students in good standing. Participating Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI) include: Concordia Seminary, Huntington College, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), University of St. Francis, and Taylor University and many more!

COMPUTERS AND INTERNET

  • Does the Library have computers with Internet access?
    There are 28 student use computers in the library. Priority will be given to users who need to do course work including, BlackBoard participation, research, word processing, etc. Non-priority users may be asked to forfeit workstation.
  • Is wireless Internet access available?
    Yes. Wireless Internet is available in the library. Please ask staff for assistance if you need to use an outlet to power your laptop.
  • Do I need a special login to use the Library's computers?
    Ivy Tech students, staff and faculty must use their Campus Connect username and password to log in to library computers.  Public patrons may be given temporary usernames and passwords.  Access to Library resources from off-campus will require the Campus Connect username and password.
  • May I print from the computers?
    Yes.  To keep printing in the library free of charge, patrons need to be responsible regarding their print jobs. Students are to print no more that 25 pages per day. Printing in the library is to be limited to class assignments and those abusing this privilege will be restricted.  Ask for staff assistance when encountering printer problems.
  • Are color printouts available?
    Yes. Color printing is for class projects only. Please limit your color printing to 10 pages or less at time.
  • How do I connect to the Library homepage, catalog and databases from home?
    Log into Campus Connect and select the Library tab. From our website, click on the resource you need.  When/if prompted, enter your Campus Connect username and password.
