How do I know if my browser meets the requirements to use Blackboard?
You can find a handy Browser Check by clicking here.
Why can't I access Blackboard?

There may be multiple reasons why you cannot access Blackboard (note: Blackboard is unavailable from 3:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. every Friday due to scheduled maintenance). Here are some reasons why you may not be able to access Blackboard:

  • We recommend using Firefox as a browser
  • Make sure your pop-up blockers are off
  • Clear your cache and history
  • Make sure you are using the link:
  • You can access from the Campus Connect login page (you no longer need to be logged into Campus Connect to access Blackboard, but use the same user id and password that you use to get into CC)
  • You are a new student.  New students will not have a Blackboard account until the first day of your first class.
If you have tried the above and still cannot access Blackboard, contact the Help Desk.
I am registered for a class but it does not appear in Blackboard.
Classes do not appear in your Blackboard account until the official start date of that course. To view the official start date for your class, please log in to Campus Connect and view your student schedule. You will see the start and end dates on your schedule. If the start date has already passed and the course is not listed in Blackboard, please contact the helpdesk.
Can I remove old classes from Blackboard?

Yes. On the My Institution tab in Blackboard, click the pencil icon at the top of the My Courses box.

Uncheck the display box next to any courses you do not wish to see anymore.

Click Save.

I logged in to my class and there is no information.
Please contact your instructor to find out when information will be posted. Ivy Tech faculty are asked to respond to email questions within 48 hours, so please allow time for the faculty member to respond. You may also contact distance education staff on your campus or the helpdesk for assistance in resolving these types of issues.
How do I purchase books for my online class?

Books for all online classes can be purchased at the Follett online bookstore.

My class was there before but now it's gone.
This can be caused by a payment issue or the class closing because of low enrollment. You will need to contact your regional registrar.
Where do I download Pronto?

Login to Blackboard, then click on the Community tab. You should then see a download link for Pronto. Click on the link, select your operating system, then download.

For assistance using Pronto, check out this user's guide.

Why do I get an "Invalid File Error" when uploading a file?
Be sure the file type you are trying to upload is an MS Office file (ie. doc, ppt, pps, xls) or rich text format (rtf). If this is the case, and you are using Internet Explorer, try using Firefox instead to access Blackboard and upload your assignment. To download Firefox, click here.
How do I send emails in Blackboard?
In Distance Learning you can send quick emails to your instructor and/or classmates without knowing all of their e-mail addresses. To do this, go into your course in Distance Learning, then click on the Communication menu bar on the left side of the screen. In the Communication list click on the "Send E-mail" link. Select the Users you want to e-mail. Emails that you have sent and that are sent to you through the Distance Learning can be accessed by clicking the E-mail icon in the upper right hand of Campus Connect.
How do I view my grades?

Many instructors make student grades available from the course menu. Select "Tools," then click on "My Grades" from the submenu. If your grades are not available there, review the syllabus and the course menu for their location. If you cannot find them, contact your instructor.

Final grades will by accessed in Campus Connect

I got kicked out of my test now I can't access it

When this happens you must contact your instructor to have your test or quiz reset.
